The Province has advised that Saskatoon has been declared an Eligible Assistance Area under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program. Residents of Saskatoon who suffered uninsurable damage from the rainstorm of June 29, such as water seepage or overland water flows, may now be eligible to receive assistance from the Provincial Program. Claims must be submitted before December 30, 2010, to be eligible, and work must be complete by June 30, 2011.

Residents encouraged to take steps to reduce the risk
The record amount of rain in April and May (115 millimeters) has saturated the ground in Saskatoon, and increased the risk of basement flooding if more rain falls in the next few days. Older homes are especially vulnerable to basement seepage. Residents are reminded that flood prevention in their homes and yards is their responsibility, and that steps should be taken now to reduce the risk of a rainstorm flood in their basements.

At the present time in Saskatoon, a Recreational Vehicle (RV), which includes motor homes, travel trailers and fifth wheels, may be parked almost anywhere on a residential property, including the front driveway, at all times of the year. The only restriction is that the RV must be parked on a hard surface and at least 1.2 meters (4 feet) from the inside of the front sidewalk

Kinsmen Park Rides will open for the season on Saturday, May 8.
Come out and enjoy the laughter, music and magic of the old-fashioned carousel and miniature train nestled within Saskatoon’s oldest park development. This year’s miniature train tunnel display, “Gone Buggy”, is courtesy of the imaginative students at St. Philip School.
The cost per carousel or miniature train ride is $1.00, with one adult riding free when accompanied by a child with a paid ride. Bulk tickets are available at any of the six leisure centres.
